How to get involved

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Advisory Council on the Education of Gifted and Talented Children are embarking on a journey to develop a Portrait of a Gifted Learner. Our goals are to:

  *   Envision the 21st century skills, life-success skills, and social competencies needed for gifted student to succeed in college, career, and life.
  *   Develop learner outcomes that Missouri gifted education programs can adapt and adopt.
  *   Develop strategies for assessing and tracking student growth over multiple years

We invite stakeholders from across Missouri to participate in our Exploration Meetings. We are looking for educators, parents, students, graduates of gifted programs, and community members to share their perspectives. We would like to hear from all nine regions<https://dese.mo.gov/quality-schools/state-supervisors-instruction> of the state and from communities of all sizes: rural, small town, urban, and suburban.
We are hosting five exploration meetings on Zoom in February 2022.
